Nala and Jasmine:

{Notes} home

Alright I’m finally home so I can update!
Well before we start with the current pictures, I want to give background on Nala and Jasmine.

One day Jacob and I were randomly like “Let’s get a pet!” Primarily because I was in an apartment and I could, but I mean, who wouldn’t want a pet? So we started looking at cool reptiles like lizards, geckos, bearded dragons, frogs, etc. Eventually we settled on a Pacman frog.

I mean look at that thing! He’s cool as hell. And they supposedly get the size of about a football. I was so excited. So we went to PetSmart and met the little Pacman they had available, but unfortunately he was a bit sickly and they were trying to feed him a pinkie. Don’t know what it is? Look it up. So disturbing if you care about animals more than life… but anyways- he was eating this little pinkie and I was too weirded out for words. So we started “thinking about it” and walking around PetSmart.

We came across the mouse and rat cages. Jacob had been telling me for such a long time that mice were the coolest pets in the whole world and that I should get one of those so we started looking at them and they were precious and all, but I wanted something bigger, something that I could snuggle with. And then I looked at the cage below and there were these precious little baby rats- 6 weeks old. I instantly fell in love. When we held them, I was hooked. We immediately signed paperwork, bought everything we needed, and headed home.

So there they are! My sweet little baby girls as soon as we got them home! They were so tiny! Very, very quiet and shy for the first week or so, but they’ve certainly warmed up to us since then.

Nala is much more shy and skittish than Jasmine, but she’s gotten MUCH better since she was a baby. In the top picture next to her face, you can see the loop in the she used to squeeze herself into and sit in so that no one could get to her. She’s definitely a loner.

Jasmine is hyper and affectionate. The only injury she’s ever caused me is a pierced ear, but she was just being curious! She’s really sweet and loves to run around and play. Her biggest downfall (at least for us) is that she is extremely mischievous and too intelligent for her own good. She’s always finding ways to run away and explore, stressing me out far too much, haha.

Well that’s a basic background of Nala and Jasmine!
